Robert U. Craven is the passionate CEO of FoodState – a co. that has been mastering the art of farm-fresh supplements since 1973. FoodState markets under two high-growth brands including MegaFood in the natural retail market. Both brands are committed to supporting US farmers and are the only brands that buy 100% pesticide & herbicide-free fruits, grains & vegetables directly from the farm for use in their product. MegaFood markets 100% non-GMO products, purchases organic ingredients whenever possible and is committed to expanding the amount of organic ingredients in their supplements.
Robert entered the natural industry as CEO of Garden of Life ten years ago. During his tenure, the company was recognized for growth by winning the Nutrition Business Journal’s Gold Award for growth in mid-size companies for 2003 & 2004. Craven also led them to the #14 spot on the Inc. magazine list of fastest-growing private companies. While at Garden of Life the brand was committed to manufacturing whole-food supplements with organic ingredients whenever possible.
Robert later partnered with natural industry pioneer Jethren Phillips, founder of Spectrum Organic Products, to successfully launch New Organic Ventures – a values-driven angel investment firm committed to a healthier planet. The team brought best practices to the organic and natural products industry, while staying committed to the core philosophy and passion that makes it great. During this time Robert served as CEO of NewOrganics, a high-growth organic ingredients business that served the natural channel by facilitating the purchase of organic commodities from all over the world.
Early in his career, Robert worked for Procter & Gamble, Boston Scientific, and The Hackett Group, where he was a lead business best-practices strategist. Robert truly feels blessed to be a part of the natural industry and is committed to advancing causes key to farmers including organic certification and non-GMO efforts.
Robert has a MBA from Florida International University and a BSBA from University of Florida. Robert resides in Windham NH with his wife and two daughters.
